Obituary for Geraldine Caples Rucker

Geraldine Caples  Rucker

Ms. Rucker was born February 8, 1932 and passed from this life on July 5, 2018 in Carrollton, TX at the age of 86.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Riley Smith and Ida Belle Smith;
Husband and father of their children, Billy Louis Caples; 2nd husband Gerald Rucker; brothers, Arthur Smith, Homer Smith, Howard Smith, Jesse Smith, Ray Smith; one sister Ola Mae.
Those left to cherish her memories include her children Billy Caples, Jr. and wife Raynell, Ed Caples, Joyce Thompson and husband Greg; one brother, Willie Smith and sister in law Wanda; grandchildren, Trey Caples, Lee Carr, Chris Caples, Ashley Thompson, Ross Caples, Jennifer Caples Morris; she is also survived by Kristy Lanyon, Amanda VanAlstyne,
Laura Trahan, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Geri exemplified leadership through servitude. She loved serving her Lord by serving others, and this often included her taking leadership in whatever activity she was involved. She was the President of the PTA when her children were in school, Resident Ambassador and President of the Residents Association (and occasional activity and exercise director) at Lewisville Estates, in Lewisville, Texas, where she lived and made many new friends during her last seven years. Geri loved people like we are all supposed to love: unfailingly; and she made sure they knew it—not only through her words but her actions as well. She had a sharp wit, a genuine smile, and an enduring sense of humor. She never lost them, even at the end of her days. She had a serious side as well, about some things... Like loving her kids, her grandkids, and her great-grand kids. Games of chickenfoot could also be pretty serious. Although she is currently in the arms of her Saviour and we will cherish her memory, we will also miss her selfless spirit, her unfailing love, and her enduring smile.
Pallbearers include grandsons Trey Caples, Lee Carr, Chris Caples Ross Caples, and great grandsons, Dylan Caples, and Ben Carr.
