Obituary for Ludie Mae Baird

Our mom, Ludie Mae Baird, left this earth on December 23, 2017. Her journey here was full of many adventures, highs and lows, victories and defeats. She understood that while her mistakes were her own (and she owned them!) God’s grace was infinite. She taught us that no matter how little you had, you always had enough to help others. While she tried to teach us that forgiveness is divine, it is our hope that we are able to honor her in death since it took us so long to do so in life. She was the epitome of strength that when life dealt her a near death blow, she pulled up her boot-straps, found renewed purpose and conquered it despite all the physical limitations that were left behind. Mom worked hard to stay strong but while she was only 77 in years and 57 in spirit, her body was 107 in wear and tear and God’s will for her was for rest. This hurts – a lot, but it’s a joyful pain because we know Mom is no longer in pain and her journey on earth has been fulfilled. Thank you for sharing her with us, Lord. Our mom is survived by her six children: Janice Weir, her husband Bobby and her children Renee and Angela; William Hernandez and nine grandchildren; Deborah Putman, her husband, Bill and their children, Mark, Adam, Alan, and Jessica; Maria Bumgart, her husband, Berry and their two daughters, Katey and Emily; Tina Stripling; Yolanda Rivera and her three children, Kiffer, Colby, and Tony; her brother John Holt; her sister Carolyn Walker and her husband Robert; as well as a multitude of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Willa Dean Dockery, and her grandchildren, Hailey and Brooke Stripling, children of Tina Stripling and Kemily Rivera, daughter of Yolanda Rivera.
