Obituary for William Edward "Bill" Phillips Sr.

William Edward “Bill” Phillips, Sr
West Monroe, LA

Mr. William “Bill” Phillips, Sr, 84, of West Monroe, LA, a retired truck driver, was born on January 29, 1935 to the union of Jay and Nellie Phillips and passed from this life on October 26, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Judy Dianne Phillips.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are his son, W.E. Phillips, JR and wife Bonnie; daughter, Jodi Wages and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Cole Thornton and Elijah Phillips; sisters, Louise Carroll and Marie Thompson; and brothers, Kenneth Phillips, Ricky Phillips, and Gary Phillips and wife Carolyn.

During his lifetime, Bill was in retail management. He was the general manager of Morgan Lindsey and TG & Y stores. His dream was to build and open his own convenience store. In 1978 that dream became a reality when he opened ‘Bill’s Quik Stop’ in West Monroe, LA. Later in life he sold that business and became an owner operator over the road truck driver. He retired at the age of 72. In his earlier years, Bill served his country in the United States Army. Bill loved gardening, fishing, and spoiling his favorite pet, Tiny.

There will be a graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter, as Bill was an avid animal lover.
