A celebration of life for Miss Vera Lee Ponder of Biloxi, MS, was held from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe with her closest family and friends attending to honor her memory.
Miss Ponder was born March 5, 1939 in Mesa, AZ and passed from this life on May 23, 2021 in Collinston, LA at the age of 82. She was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS and First Baptist Church of Monroe, LA. She enjoyed painting, cooking, sewing, and singing in the choir. She always gave a helping hand to those in need. More than anything, she loved Jesus Christ, her Lord, her savior, more than anything else. She was the hands and feet of Jesus, humbly serving her family, friends, strangers or anyone in need. Aunt Vera was never married in her lifetime, but she left behind a legacy and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. She was a mother to them all and loved them as her own. She was dearly cherished and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph DeVance and Noami ElLoise Ponder; her brothers, Joe Ponder, II, Silas Ponder, and William Ponder; and her sisters, Lillian Ponder Joy and Barbara Ponder.
Survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
