Obituary for Teresa Nell Gentry
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Theresa Nell Sims Gentry, our loving mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Nell Gentry, 80, currently residing in Monroe, LA, died on July 18, 2019 from injuries suffered in a tragic car accident.
She was a devoted mother, treasured her children and extended family, embraced every moment with them, and lived life to its fullest. Nell loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was so proud of them. She had a spirited personality, was always ready for an adventure and made those around her laugh, sometimes at her own expense.
Nell Gentry is preceded in death by her husband Pete Gentry of San Pedro, CA; parents, Harry and Annie Mae Swaggart of Monroe, LA; and two brothers, Joe and Glenn Swaggart of Monroe, LA.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy Perry of West Monroe, LA and Debbie Meeks of Canton, MS; sons, John Sims of Sunset, LA and Mark Sims of Bossier City, LA; nieces, Alisa Lear of Downsville, LA and Stacie Retzlaff of LaPlace, LA; nephews Joey Swaggart of Downsville, LA and Kenny Swaggart of West Monroe, LA; step-daughters Pam Gimple and Sharon Hausken of San Pedro, CA; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Also cousins, and friends since childhood, Jan Marts and Mary Frances Warren of Vicksburg, MS.
Strong, talented, with an amazing capacity for love and forgiveness, Theresa Nell Sims Gentry leaves a legacy of memories. We are grateful she was ours.
