Obituary for Shirley Jean Jordan

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Shirley Jean Adcock Jordan or “Jeannie” as she was lovingly known. Will be held at 10 am Monday, June 29, 2020, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Pastor Mike Lairsey and Pastor Gary Sapp officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, June 28 from 5:00-8:00 pm, also at Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jean was born Dec 7, 1941 in Quitman, LA. She graduated from Quitman High School at 18 years of age, and later went to business school in Monroe, LA. While there, she frequently visited “The Hollywood Restaurant” where she met Dwain Hilton Jordan; they married on April 2, 1961 and they spent the next 59 years together. During this time they owned and operated Snuffy’s Grocery and Hardware for 35 yrs. They served in numerous position in their church. Upon retiring they became RV MAPS Volunteers, traveling all over building churches. They devoted many hours volunteering at church camps and making numerous friends.

She was a member of Harvest Assembly of God. She loved the Lord, her family and extended church family as well. This was evident in the life she lived, serving others.

She was blessed with a quick wit; which led her grandchildren and great grandchildren to call her “Sassy”. When asked “How are you feeling?” she would respond; “With my hands”. She loved to fish, was an excellent seamstress, loved all typed of crafts, and was a master at any game she ever attempted to play. If you could beat her at a game, it was a true accomplishment. She was always a good sport, and even though she never let you win, she never had a problem when she would lose. She always took it like the graceful woman that she was. The same can be said when she gracefully accepted the loss of life on this earth due to her battle with cancer. On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, she walked over the threshold to her heavenly home.

“Jeannie” is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Gilbert Adcock and Lurline Thomas Adcock, two brothers, Stanley and Royce, daughter Pamela Jean.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dwain “Snuffy” Jordan; daughter Kris Jordan Lairsey and husband Mike of Slidell, LA; Kerry Alan Jordan and wife Denice of Downsville, LA; step-son Dwain Hilton Jordan, Jr. and wife Terry of Oak Grove, LA; two sisters, Doris Adcock Walsworth of Quitman, LA; Pat Adcock Vail and husband Jerry of Farmerville, LA.

“Mawmaw” is also survived by five grandsons, James Jordan; Jeremy, Dylan, and Jordan Lairsey; Chris Jordan; three granddaughters, April Franklin, Sherry Jordan, and Kaley Jordan. She is also survived by numerous loving great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, and friends that were dear to her heart.

Until we meet again in the sweet by and by….
