Obituary for Sarah Letha Humphries

Funeral services celebrating the life of Sarah McMillon Humphries of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, July 1, 2022, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Julian Ryder, Bishop Jimmy Masters, and Rev. Larry Chapman officiating the service.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends Thursday June 30th from 5 PM – 8 PM at the funeral home and Friday from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Sarah was a business owner in the tax preparation and bookkeeping industry. She was the Past President of the American Business Women’s Association, Monroe, LA Chapter, and was an active member of AM-VETS Post 66 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Soul’s Harbor United Pentecostal Church in Calhoun, LA.

Sarah will be remembered by her children, family, and friends as someone they could go to when preparing or planning any gathering or event. She enjoyed organizing and planning gatherings for anyone and everyone to enjoy. She enjoyed spending her time traveling, reading, working in yard, and gardening; but most of all she loved cooking for her family and friends. She shared and created many memories with those she loved most that will always be cherished.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband Charles Elmer Humphries; Mother, Ruby McMillon; Grandson, Cody A. Humphries; Sister, Martha Ann Marzula; Brother-in-law, Ray Pommier, SR.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Wanda G. Malta and husband Louis, and Stacey L. Whorton; her sons, Charles Lee Humphries and wife June, R. Clay Humphries and wife Lisa, Kelvin W. Humphries, and wife Kathy; brother Vernon McMillion & wife Sandra; and sister, Erma R. Pommier.

She leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. A special Thanks for the Love, Kindness, and support from the Staff of Stoney Brook Memory Care Home, and her good friend Pete Caston for keeping her hair looking good all these years.

Pallbearers will be Seth Humphries, Kyle Humphries, Tyler Humphries, Billy Jackson, Steven Pommier, Stewart Pommier, Ricky McMillon, Jason McMillon, Joey Marzula, and Johnny Glen Poole.
