Celebration of life for Mr. Ricky Dean Blakely of West Monroe, LA will be held at 6:00pm, Friday, April 16, 2021 at Cheniere Baptist Church with Jeff Greer officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm until time of service at the church.
Ricky Dean Blakely was born October 24, 1956 in Albuquerque, NM to Doyle & Ruth Davis Blakely and passed from this life on April 13, 2021 in West Monroe, LA. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents and only son, Ricky Lamar Blakely. He was a master welder by trade. Before his health started to decline some years back, he was an avid outdoorsman, whether he was bass fishing, deer hunting, or slinging Little Ricky, Heather Dawn, & Brooke, his brothers and friends off tubes and skis behind the boat on the river during the summertime. Ricky loved sports, baseball, basketball, football, both NFL and college, his favorites, of course, being the LSU Tigers & the New Orleans Saints. And if you were in the same room or in the stands with him, you definitely knew who he was rooting for, and probably a good bit of who he was NOT rooting for! That goes for politics as well, if you knew Ricky, you know how passionate and vocal he was about the things he believed in, and was always willing to help anyone if he could.
Most of all, he was a loving husband and doting father. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 40 years, Rhonda Gaye, two daughters, Brooke Reneà and Heather Dawn & husband Ronnie Harnar. Older brother, Randy and wife Myra, younger brothers Gil and Curti. And we can’t leave out his ‘brother from another mother’ Geoffrey Dison. Sister In Law Anita Eppinette, Brothers in Law, Jeff Greer & wife Michelle, David Greer and girlfriend Caryn. Three grandchildren, Christopher, Amber & Megan Harnar. Three great grandchildren, EmmaLeigh, Gideon & Cambree. As well as a host of much loved nieces and nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.
