Obituary for Peggy Francine Barmore

Peggy Francine Douglas Barmore, 72, of West Monroe, passed peacefully on to her heavenly home on June 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Grayson, LA on June 22, 1949 and will be remembered for her kind and fun-loving spirit. As a licensed pilot and certified scuba diver, she was an adventure seeker at heart. She drove fast and loved deeply. She had simple goals in life: love God, love others, eat dessert first, and never be accused of driving slow in the fast lane. She was a faithful friend that loved unconditionally and knew how to listen without giving unsolicited advice, but also knew how to throw in a little crazy conversation just for the fun of it too! Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her eternal hope was in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

After graduating from Caldwell High School, Peggy continued her education earning a BA in Social Work, MED in Guidance Counseling with a speciality in Marriage and Family Therapy. Throughout her life, she worked as a nursing home administrator, social worker, and tax preparer.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years: George “Mikie” Barmore of West Monroe and her children, Billy Bolton (Nina) of Pensacola, FL; Jenene “J.J.” Bignar (Jamie) of Jena, LA; K Cheri Perkins (Michael) of Farmerville, LA; Brandon Barmore (Crystal) of West Monroe; Peyton Barmore (Ashley) of West Monroe, and Adam Barmore (Beth) of West Monroe, as well as, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her stepmother Maudine Douglas of Monroe, LA., mother-in-law, Rennie Barmore, and her siblings: Jed Douglas (Nancy) of Asheville, NC; Cameron Douglas (Vicki) of Monroe; Larry Douglas (Dale) of Slidell; Debbie Dickerson of Monroe; and Stephanie Ragland of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virginia Hall of Grayson, LA and Andrew Houston Douglas of Monroe, LA.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Peggy Barmore will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bastrop, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. Family will receive friends for visitation 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Barmore, Peyton Barmore, Adam Barmore, Jamie Bignar, Michael Perkins, and Michael Sexton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cade Barmore, Billy Bolton II, and Maston Perkins
