Obituary for Norma Jean Chowns
Norma Jean Chowns joined her heavenly father on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cloyce Chowns, her parents Buster Baur and Hazel Baur, and brother B. J. Crowley.
She is survived by children, Vikki Chowns Fredette and husband Dan, Debra Camp and husband Jeff, Guy Chowns and wife Shari, and Scott Chowns; her grandchildren Lorianne Camp Soileau and husband Jeffrey, Stephanie Serna, Curtis Koval, and Joel Spurlock, they cherished her with all their hearts; her great grandchildren, Grady, Hadley, and Jack Soileau, Seth and Adain Moeller, Elijah and Lucas Serna, also a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mother loved life to the fullest and she knew that every moment is a precious gift from God. She never took anything for granted and always placed God first in her life. Showing love to others was her priority in her 88 years.
Jean taught her children to be kind to others because you never know where someone is in their lives, to always look around to see if someone could use help and to offer words of encouragement and love, that keeping an open mind was important to our growth. She taught us to understand our strengths and weaknesses so we could live a fulfilling life. There are so many life lessons she taught us that I can’t list them all.
Mother appreciated the beauty of God’s creation, not only in nature, but also in people. It was important to her that others knew they were loved. She always put the needs of others before her own. Placing God first and obeying his word.
Her favorite thing to say was “God is Love”, so love others as you love yourself. She also loved to sing her prayers out loud with great joy!
Our home was a gathering place for family and friends because mother made it that kind of home. She had a love for gatherings, where our home was full of laughter and fun. This was her joy in life! It was important to her that we had beautiful memories to cherish.
Mother was always involved in her church and community wherever they lived and did it with a happy heart and love. Serving God came very natural to her, and always finding a need to fill.
She had a love for writing poetry and was an avid reader of all kinds of wonderful books. She encouraged her love of reading by teaching others to read, people of all ages.
Mother you will be greatly missed, and we will always carry you in our hearts, but we rejoice to know you are in heaven and reunited with daddy again. You have left us a legacy of love that will be passed on from generation to generation. You were an example of a holy woman who loved God with all her heart. Words can never express what you have taught us in life, and we will treasure those lessons forever and live them. Thank you for teaching us to be caring and compassionate to others. We will live our lives as you did, we love you beyond measure.
