Obituary for Linda Evans Rawls

Linda Jane Evans Rawls passed away on April 19, 2022 in Lawrence, KS. She passed peacefully at home with family at the age of 87.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA.
Linda was born December 21st, 1934, on her mother’s birthday, to Nettie Virginia (Holloway) Evans and Johnny Fleet Evans, in Monroe, LA. She grew up on the southside of Monroe, near her mother’s family. She spent many summer days in rural Mississippi where her father was born. She spoke fondly of those days spent with her grandparents, uncles, aunts and many cousins.

She married Winfred C. Rawls in 1958 and they were married 57 years, until his passing in 2015.
Linda was a past member of Maranatha Baptist Church, where she was active in the Children’s church. She also was a past member of Calhoun Assembly of God Church. She worked for the American Heart Association and the Lender’s Exchange, as well as holding various other jobs throughout the years.

She was a lover of animals, all kinds, and gave generously to animal rescue groups and shelters. She had many pets over the years that she showered with love. She even tried to rescue a squirrel once and put it in the bathroom, only to have it tear the bathroom apart before she released it. Another time, she tried to keep a pet alligator in the bathtub. She always said that animals love you unconditionally and never talk back to you!

She was very creative and artistic. She learned to play the piano, paint, woodworking, and crafts. If you knew her, you probably have one of her creations in your home today. She was very proud of the things she made.
She loved her family and grandchildren without reservations. She loved to travel and was able to visit many places in her lifetime to see her children and grandchildren wherever they were living at the time.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred C. Rawls, Sr.; daughter Sharon Delane Little; her mother Nettie Virginia Price; father Johnny Fleet Evans, Sr.; stepfather Albert E. Price; brother Larry E. Evans, and stepson Clayton Rawls.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Steven K. Tyler Sr. and wife Glenda of West Monroe; son Winfred C. Rawls, Jr. and wife Pam of Calhoun; daughter Winifred Denise Curtis and husband Kevin of Lawrence, KS; daughter Donna Rawls Reeves of Baton Rouge; siblings Amos Price and wife Nina, and Nora Sue Garsee. Lastly, her four legged daughter, Whoopie.
Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren Steven Kim Tyler, Jr., Ryan Tyler, Brandon Tyler, Trey Tyler, Jamie Prewitt, Carolina Little, Justin Rawls, Evan Curtis, Jordan Curtis, and Caitlin Curtis. As well as 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Her family wishes to acknowledge the great love and care given to her in her final years by her granddaughter Jordan Curtis. Jordan was a compassionate caretaker of her grandmother and always made sure she was comfortable and cared for every day. They also would like to give thanks to the Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice Care of Lawrence, KS.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter.
