Karen Annette Taylor, born in Norfolk, VA on November 9, 1965, went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 17,2023 in her chosen hometown of West Monroe, LA after a childhood following her parents’ USMC careers across the country.

After a childhood of adventures in which her family was her only constant, Karen prized her family above everything except her relationship with the Lord. She loved her only child dearly, and she treasured time with her only grandchild. She shared her love of fishing with him as she did with many others in her life. She loved to sit on a bream bed and fish, but preferred to have one of her many friends or family members with her to bait her hook and take the fish off for her.

When not fishing or spending time with the Lord, Karen enjoyed cooking for others, reading, and talking with people around her. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms. Part of that love for others was being willing to speak truths that people might not have wanted to hear, but she had the courage and strength of character to say the hard things anyway and still show love afterwards.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of over 20 years, Ronnie Lavelle Taylor; she had many of those conversations with him over the years they were together, but they never let the little things block what mattered: their love for each other and their life together.

A special mention must be made of Mr. Rick Breen without whose help, support and friendship over the years, Karen’s life would have been very different. Thanks to Mr. Rick, she met her husband Ronnie and was fortunate enough to be able to spend more time with him due to their shared place of employment than most people are able to spend with their loved ones. This extra time together no doubt contributed to her and Ronnie’s strong bond.

Karen also leaves behind her daughter Savanna Taylor Overby; her grandson, Aiden Michael Taylor-Overby, her son-in-law Nick Overby; her boyfriend Andy Coon and her best friend, Patience Coon; her adopted daughter Amber Corbett Vick; her sister Debbie and Keith McMorrow; her sister Sheryl and John Kelley; her sister Mary and Mike Keithley; her sister Frankie Monk; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Jean and Franklin Roosevelt Buchanan, and her nephew Michael Eckert and William Buchanan.

The family wants to give a special Thank You to Glenwood Medical Center.
