Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Edwina Herrington of Monroe, LA will be 2:00pm Sunday, March 24, 2019 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home 911 Warren Dr. West Monroe with Rev. Mark Finn officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Cheniere Baptist Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Herrington was born October 31, 1942 in Mt. Olive, MS and passed from this life on March 21, 2019 in Monroe, LA at the age of 76. She was a grocery clerk for over 30 years and she made lots of friends with coworkers and customers during that time, especially at Harvest Foods where she last worked. She was a Sunday school teacher through the years and was also a member of First West Church. She had a “green thumb” and loved working in the garden, growing flowers and reaped the benefit of watching things grow and come to life. Mrs. Joyce was an awesome, talented seamstress and spent many years sewing for her family and others, and also enjoyed arts and crafts. She was many times described as sweet, honest, and dependable. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all who met her. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father, Taft Richardson and wife, Myrtle; her mother, Clara Bell Richardson; her sister, Carolyn Sullivan; her grandson, Blake McIntyre; and daughter-in-law, Susan Herrington.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Lavell Herrington; her children, Eddie Herrington and wife, Annette, Connie Collins and husband, Steve of Pearl, MS, Patricia Taylor of West Monroe, and Roger Herrington and wife, Melissa of West Monroe; one nephew, Mitchell Sullivan and wife, Kristi of Brandon, MS; also survived by eight grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Joey Collins, Chris Collins, Mitchell Sullivan, Daniel Herrington, Justin Herrington and Tyler Herrington. Honorary pallbearer will be Haleigh Herrington.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her memory to Parkinson’s Foundation @ Parkinson.org
