Celebration of life for Mr. Jonathan Edward Donehoo of Ruston, LA will be held Friday, March 15, 2019
at 11:00am at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Jonathan Edward Donehoo was born on January 22, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in San José, Costa Rica, Cartagena and Bogotá, Colombia, and Atlanta, Georgia, as the eldest son of Baptist missionaries. Jonathan did his undergraduate work at the University of Georgia and received a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design degree from Louisiana Tech.

Jonathan began his teaching career at East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City, Tennessee. After several years teaching in Tennessee he was invited back to Louisiana Tech to head the Graphic Design Department. While at Tech he was appointed co-director of the widely known study abroad program, Tech Rome, and loved taking students to the many art venues of Europe during his twenty-five-year tenure. He was instrumental in establishing the School of Art’s (renamed The School of Design) study abroad program in Paris in 2004. He was appointed Director of the School of Art in 2007 and retired as Professor Emeritus in 2014.

He influenced many students during his tenure at Tech not only in professional design but also in living an ethical life.

Jonathan’s sudden departure leaves a hole in the lives of many friends, colleagues, and family members who were blessed by his company, generosity, sage advice, and special sense of humor. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a gift to the Jonathan Donehoo Memorial Fund at the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. This fund will help to support students of the School of Design participate in the study abroad program that was so dear to Jonathan.

My heart is broken. My birth twin, both of us born same day, same hospital, a few hours apart. My prom date, my very dear friend. You will be greatly missed. Wishing the family peace.
