John was born September 29, 1954, in Winnfield, LA to his parents, Rev. Edward and Mrs. Abbie Mixon.
He passed away November 26, 2022, Saturday evening at his home in West Monroe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Edward Mixon and Mrs. Abbie Perdue Mixon, as well as two brothers, Ronnie Mixon and Donnie Wayne Mixon, and one sister, Sandra Sue Mixon. Also preceding John in death are two sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Mixon and Sue Coley Mixon.

John attended school at Ogden High School in Liddieville, LA. He was employed at Car Wash West for some time. John loved God and served Him to the best of his ability. He was not ashamed to be a Christian and was a witness to others.

He thoroughly enjoyed going to church and singing. He loved his siblings and their spouses, his nieces and nephews. He remembered all of their birthdays. As John was disabled and could not work, he spent a lot of his time talking on the phone to his family and many friends. If he had your telephone number, you could count on a regular telephone call from John.

John is survived by five brothers Rev. David Mixon (Rhonda) of West Monroe; Nathanael Mixon (Katherine) of Ruston, LA; James Mixon (Debbie) of Columbia, LA; Joel Mixon (Delores) of Eros; LA, and Paul Dale Mixon (Ramona) of Liddieville, LA; two sisters, Martha Massey (Paul) of Winnfield, LA and Priscilla Fitzgerald (Bobby) of Indian Springs, AL; and a sister-in-law, Vikki Mixon (Donnie). John is also survived by a host of nephews and nieces.

John's family would like to thank Mr. Ricky Baker and ARCO Community
Resource for the care they provided for John.
