Obituary for John William "Billy" Gibson

John William “Billy” Gibson of Calhoun, La. and his precious dog, Buster, passed from this life on April 18,2021. He was born January 27, 1952 in Monticello Arkansas to Richard and Helen Gibson.

He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Helen Gibson. Survivors include two sisters, Linda Roberts and Anne Harper. He had one brother, J.R.”Buddy” Gibson and wife, Marlene. He was also survived by a host of extended family and many loyal friends.

After high school, he worked as a logger with his dad and brother at R.A.Gibson and Sons. Upon his dad‘s retirement, Billy worked with brother Buddy at Gibson logging. That is what he knew and did it well. He and his brother have competed in the past at the Forest Festival in Winnfield and placed first and second with ease. Billy was a natural.

His family would like to especially thank Stone Derrick and many close friends who stood beside Bill a.k.a. “Mud” and cared for him during these past few years of failing health. Bill lived every day to the fullest, exactly the way he wanted, right up until the last day. It was his way and he will be greatly missed by many.
There will be a celebration of life for family and very close friends at a later date. Thank you all and Griffin funeral home for your assistance during this time. The Gibson family
