Obituary for Jimmie Duane Ross

Jimmie Duane Ross was born February 17, 1937 in Dodson, LA, and passed from this life August 20, 2020 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 83.

Jimmie was a man of honor who believed in standing up for what was right and spent his life doing that. He was a man who loved God, his family, and his country. His family was more important than anything else in the world to him. He loved his fur babies who loyally stayed by his side throughout his life. He was a natural born teacher and enjoyed freely sharing his knowledge and wisdom. He was a successful athlete in high school and won many honors. He was the first in his family to graduate from college and blazed the trail for his younger siblings. He spent a lot of hours helping his daddy, a Foremost milkman, build his business and made many milk deliveries with him. He was a successful businessman, winning many accolades and awards. He truly cared about his clients. In his younger years, Jimmie loved spending time at the family cabin and hunting. He proudly served in the United States Army for 6 years. He often told the story of how at 8 years old he decided he wanted to go to church and would take his younger brother by the hand and walk a distance to get there. He belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout the years. He was a true friend to others. He believed in us, his family and friends, and we will always try to live up to his faith in us.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Phama Pullen Ross and Walter James Ross, his loving wife of 35 years, Pamela Ramshur Ross, and one great grandson.

Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Teresa Cosper and husband Kevin of Utah, Tonya Powell and husband Randy of Bernice, Becky Cates and husband Kirk of West Monroe; brother, Daniel Ross and wife Joan; brother, Rodger Ross and wife Connie; sister, Denise Cranford and husband Lowell Cranford; eleven grandchildren, Holly Lee, Adam Lee, Aaron Kindrix, Casey Cosper, Sam Cosper, Jesse Cosper, Hannah Cosper Blood, Lucas Atkinson, Derek Warden, Meagen Warden, Alley Warden; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
