Jessie passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 6, 2020 after battling cancer. He was surrounded by his family and his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy Lee Lenard.

Jessie was born on October 29, 1939 in Ouachita Parish on the banks of Prairion. He was the fifth of six children born to William Joseph and Willie Ann (Hinton) Lenard.

Jessie was loved by many and never met a stranger. His smile lit up every room he entered and his laugh was infectious. He loved the Lord with all his heart. Jessie was a 32nd Mason and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend to everyone he knew. He loved his family fiercely and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gospel music. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his wife and his breakfast club friends as well as attending local church gospel singings with his wife and friends. I guarantee you, we were truly blessed to know and love him. He was one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his sisters, Lillie Harper and Dorothy Dunn; brothers, Leavel Lenard and James William (JW) Lenard; niece, Mary Alice Dunn; brother-in-law, James (Sonny) Sowell; and sister-in-law, Gloria Lee.
