Obituary for Jerry Dupont Beckham

Jerry Dupont Beckham, 76, passed peacefully from this earth September 17, 2022. He was born October 13, 1945 in Anniston, AL. He moved with his family to Monroe, LA at the age of one and grew up on Texas Avenue.
He was an active member of the band at Ouachita Parish High School where he was able to march in Lyndon B. Johnson’s inaugural parade in 1964. He graduated in 1966 and had remained close friends with several members of his graduating class. After graduation, he began a career in the food service industry that led him to Houston, TX.

He spent several years there with the opportunity to meet numerous celebrities such as Carol Burnett and Shirley MacLaine along the way. He eventually moved back home to Monroe. He later adopted a beautiful black cat he named Thatcher. Jerry and Thatcher were two peas in a pod. He spent lots of time with his close friend Don Anderson who helped him with various things including caring for Thatcher while Jerry was in the hospital. He loved spending time with his remaining family and enjoyed all the holidays together.

Jerry doted on all his nieces and nephews, and was especially close with his niece Kelly Beckham, who assisted him any way she could. He loved her like a daughter. He was overjoyed when he became a great uncle to several great nieces and nephews, and even more ecstatic when he became a great-great uncle. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
