We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Janis Elaine Thomas Dupuy of West Monroe, Louisiana on February 10, 2023, at the age of 72. She was surrounded by loving family when she stepped into Heaven.
Janis was born on December 30, 1950 in Monroe, Louisiana to Walter and Amy Hubbard Thomas. She was the youngest of four children. She was raised in Monroe and retired from PHM Corporation in 2020. She was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Janis was quick-witted and loved to laugh. She loved Jesus and her family deeply. She enjoyed watching I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, and old western movies, especially ones with Indians in them. She also enjoyed decorating for the changing seasons. From New Year’s to Christmas, she was ready for each coming holiday. Janis showed her love in many ways, through texts of something important she thought you should know, phone calls, little notes, or gifts. Giving gifts was Janis’ love language.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Amy Thomas and her brother, Ronney D. Thomas, and a step daughter, April Dupuy Mizell. She is survived by many family members including her loving husband of 28 years, Steve Dupuy, of West Monroe, step daughter Melonie Dupuy Greenhagen, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sharron Thomas of Monroe, her sister and brother-in-law, Harriette and Fred Hall of Omaha, Nebraska, sister-in-law Stacey Holtzclaw and husband Tom of Friendswood, Texas, sister-in-law Sonya Thibodeaux and husband Kelly of West Monroe, numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Hart Holtzclaw, Joey Nichols, Guy Yarbrough, Michael Eversden, Mark Wilson, and Kelly Thibodeaux.
Queen Elizabeth II once said, “Grief is the price we pay for love.” Our Janis loved and was loved deeply. Now she is at peace, happy, and whole with Jesus, the one she loved the most.
