Obituary for James Richard Jernigan
James Richard Jernigan passed from this life on October 28, 2022, at his home in West Monroe, LA after battling a lengthy illness. "Rick" was born in Pensacola, FL on December 31, 1949 to parents James Frank Jernigan, Jr. and Bennie Gunell Collins Jernigan who preceded him in death.
Rick retired from the Panama City, FL police force in 1984 wan was the Business Manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken of Monroe, Inc. from 1985-2009. He was very astute in business and most anything else he attempted to do. If he did not know how to do something, just give him time and he would work it out.
He dedicated a great deal of time as Vice-President of the West Monroe High School Band Booster Club from 2000-2009. Rick was a huge supporter of the band and was at most every event to not only support his children, but the other band members as well.
Rick was a member of the McGuire United Methodist Church of West Monroe, LA.
Rick Married Sheryl White on August 7, 1982 and was a dedicated husband and family man.
Rick is survived by his wife Sheryl, two sons, James Richard Jernigan II and wife Ern Jernigan, Dr. Grant Jernigan and wife Dr. Brittany Hudson Jernigan, and one daughter, Rachel Jernigan Power and husband Casey Power, grandchildren, Ava Jernigan, Jada Jernigan, Elizabeth Power, Jackson Power, Caleb Power, and a sister, Sandra Jernigan French. He is preceded in death by his sister, Myrta Ann Jernigan Farrell, his Grandparents, James Frank and Jennie Walsingham Jernigan and Walter Columbus and Lessie Mae Tew Collins.
