Celebration of life for James "Jim” E. Gray, of Sterlington, LA will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at North Monroe Baptist Church (West Wing)
Family will receive friends for visitation 9:30am until time of service at the church.
Jim was born to the late C.F. and Pauline Gray in Hot Springs, AR on October 27, 1940, and was welcomed into the loving arms of his wife, Pam, on September 17, 2022.
Jim committed himself to Christ at an early age. He was a deacon for numerous years at North Monroe Baptist Church. Alongside his wife, Pam, he taught a married couple's class for over 25 years. He was a devoted Christian who enjoyed ministering to others.
Jim was a machinist at International Paper in Bastrop, LA for 40 years. During his last 4 years of employment, he enjoyed teaching safety courses. After retiring in 2004, Jim continued his love for teaching until 2010. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching the grandchildren play sports, playing cards, and visiting with neighbors and friends. Jim was known to be a prankster and loved to make everyone laugh.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife; Pam Gray, brother; Charles Gray Jr., son-in-law; Kevin Cupit, and great grandson; Case Courson.
Jim is survived by his children; Teresa Brown (John), Jeffrey Gray (Libby), Kellye Cupit, Suzanne Hopkins (Erich), Shea Smalling (Alex), Blake Shelby (Olivia). He is survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Jennifer Colquette (Brad), Ashton Courson (Brandon), Tanner Wyatt, Sydney & Cassidy Shelby, Grayson & Reed Smalling. Jim is also survived by his brother, Doug Gray (Bonnie), sister-in-law; Melanie Girard (Pat), special neighbors; Vicky Sanders, Jimmy & Carolyn Goldman, friend; Marilyn Turner and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a deep felt thank you to the staff at Glenwood Medical Center and L TAC for taking such good care of Jim in his final days.
