Funeral Services for James David “Buddy” Thatcher, Jr. will be May 3, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 until time of service. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Chatham, LA.

James served in the U.S. Navy, Merchant Marines and Coast Guard. He loved hunting, fishing and traveling the world.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Thatcher, Sr. and Jimmy May Thatcher; sister, Betty Ann Dubois (Charles), brother-in-law Maurice Colton and niece, Amy Jean Cotton.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Brenda Faye Battaglia (Gerald); grandchildren, Jerri Lanell Brunson (Jerry), Katherine RoseAnn Battaglia and Fiance Eric Poland and Charles Battaglia; step-daughter Margaret RoseAnn Golden (Danny), siblings, Mary Helen Cotton and Shirley Bonnette (Breard). He also had 5 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Danny Golden, Rick Sturdivant, Samuel Brunson, Jerry Brunson, Charles Battaglia, Mike Cotton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be William Golden, Eric Poland and Gerald Battaglia.
