Obituary for Grady Mitchell Taylor

Funeral service for Grady Mitchell Taylor, 78, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 12:00 noon with visitation from 10:00 – 12:00 Saturday February 13, 2021 at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe, La. with the Reverend Billy Taylor officiating. Mr. Taylor will be buried at Lapine Church Cemetery next to his beloved mother, but there will be no graveside ceremony.

Mr. Taylor was born January 14, 1943 in West Monroe, La. and passed away February 8, 2021, in Monroe, La. Grady is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Taylor; father, Lawson Taylor; two brothers, Glen Doyle Taylor and Lawson Levi Taylor, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Grady never married or had children, but he is survived by one sister, Lois Marie Owen; one brother, Gary Rickie Taylor, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Grady was a tree cutter by profession for many years and loved to talk about the “best way” to cut trees (which of course was his way! Lol). He lived with his mother and took good care of her until she passed. Before going to live in the nursing home, he loved to walk along the railroad tracks, go “dumpster diving” for what to his eye was “good stuff” (he may or may not have had a small hoarding problem!), hang out at B-Joe’s, and talk about Jesus. That’s the most important thing, he loved Jesus, and Jesus loved him. They are reunited – Grady, Mamaw Chick, and Jesus. They must be having an awesome homecooked meal about now!

There will be no graveside service. Honorary pall bearers will be Grady’s entire circle of friends and family.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a charity that Grady personally supported for many years.
