Obituary

Funeral service celebrating the life of George “Mike” Sanderson of Eros, LA will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Apostolic Restoration Church, West Monroe with Pastor Nathan Thornton officiating.
Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Eros, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends for visitation, 12pm until time of service at the church.

Mike was born April 7, 1960 and passed from this life July 9, 2020 at the age of 60.
He was as good of a man as they come! A great Christian, always caring about others, always bigger than life, always full of laughs & always a dear friend. He was soooo proud of Benjamin and loved his family, and often bragged on them even though he was so talented himself.

He enjoyed fishing and he got to catch a lot of big fish the past few weeks. But more that, He LOVED people, and having family and friends over for visits, and always taking the time to talk and check in.

He was always very appreciative of even the smallest of things. He was perceptive, often noticing the small things in others as well; wondering if they were feeling well or little down and he would go talk to them, often giving them a call of encouragement.

He was every child’s favorite with that pocket full of candy!
He was the big brother to many, a worshipper of God, and a friend to all.

The author David Viscott penned it so well...
“To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.” Mike was loved by family, friends, and all those who knew him.
We Know without a doubt, that he stepped into Glory fully-healed, Singing the house down, Smiling & Rejoicing in the forever of God’s Heavenly Sunlight! His love will shine on.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Sanderson; brothers, William Bill Sanderson, and Howard Irvin Sanderson; nephew, Darryl Dewayne Sanderson.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 27 years, Georgia Sanderson; son, Benjamin Sanderson and fiancé Elizabeth Jones of Monroe, LA; brothers, Steve Sanderson and wife Dona of Monroe, LA, and Jimmy Sanderson and wife Karen of Columbia, LA; sisters, Donna Johnson and husband Kenny of Winnsboro, LA, and Brenda Anderson and husband Gary of Columbia, LA; also survived by a host of extended family, friends, and church family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to: Apostolic Restoration Church Missions, West Monroe, LA.

Pallbearers include George Gryder, Jeremy Chilton, Jay Chilton, Matt Allen, Jeremy White, Barry Franks, Russ Caughron, and Eddie Ronquille.

Georgia, the first time I heard your beloved sing was at Jimmie Davis State Park gather around a glowing fire with church family and friends listening to his mighty voice. Gary and I both loved to hear him sing. We will miss his strong illuminating voice but on days when the wind will blow and the sun will shine we will hear his voice. God bless you Georgia and Ben, and we are better in this life for having to know and love your “Mike”.

Georgia & Benjamin - my is broken with each of you. We all hurt differently but it is a definite hurt. I learned many years ago the risk of LOVING DEEP would also mean you would HURT DEEP! But oh the beauty of making memories that live on FOREVER. No one can take those from you! Cherish all the GOOD TIMES because THE GOOD DAYS ALWAYS OUTWEIGH THE BAD DAYS! Keeping both of you close to my heart and in my prayers! God REALLY CARES! Love ❤️ y’all!

God saw fit to give your dear loved one his angel wings. I pray that after he sings around God's throne, probably the loudest one there, he is dancing on those streets of gold in his new body! I have been praying for you all and will continue to do so. God bless you
