Obituary for George Ray Weeks

George Ray Weeks was born May 8, 1943 in Jackson, MS, and passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023 at the age of 79. He was a resident of West Monroe, LA.

A graveside service for Mr. Weeks will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Cheniere Baptist Church Cemetery, 101 Cheniere Baptist Church Rd., West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023, from 4:00 till 6:00 pm at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. Interment will be at Cheniere Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bill Haley, Clark Springs Baptist Church. Martin Trey Weeks and Melissa Weeks Herrington will deliver the eulogy.

Mr. Weeks was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved the Lord. He became a Christian at the young age of 5 and continued his love of Christ throughout his life. He was a business consultant for major corporations during his professional career. When he retired, he continued his love for the Lord by serving as a Gideon through the prison ministry. He was the founder of White Dove Ministry and served as a lay minister at nursing homes through sermons and song. He was a member of Clark Springs Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA and sang in the choir.

He was the son of deceased parents, Ernest Lee Weeks, Sr. and Sue Elizabeth Strowd, Jackson, MS, and deceased brother, Ernest Lee Weeks, Jr., Deer Park, TX.

Surviving is his wife, Margaret Patricia “Pat” Jacks, of 55 years; daughter, Melissa Weeks Herrington and spouse, Roger; Sons, Martin Trey Weeks, West Monroe, LA, and Michael Sean Weeks, Drew, MS; his sister, Billie M Roberts, Fort Walton, FL, his cousin Georgia Lee Rogers, Greenville, MS, and his seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His love for his family had no boundaries.

Pallbearers will be Roger Herrington, Martin Trey Weeks, Scott Roberts, Joseph Ray Weeks, Michael Ray Weeks, and Jeffrey Trey Kipper Weeks.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ruston, LA for their loving and compassionate care to Mr. Weeks and his family.
