Obituary for Gary L Dorman
Gary Lynn Dorman passed away Thursday, May 7,2020 after a brief illness at his home in Delhi with his family by his side.
Gary was a 1970 graduate of Rayville High School. He was a longtime electrical inspector who was highly respected and sought after in his field. At the time of his death Gary was working in the Gulf for MMR, a Baton Rouge electrical instrumentation company dealing with oil and gas.
One of Gary’s young co-workers referred to him as the “pony-tailed electrical guru of the Gulf” in a text to Gary’s wife Treba when he heard that his boss had died. Dorman was in great demand by Shell and Chevron engineers over the years as they battled over getting him and his expertise on their projects.
Gary is preceded in death by his Father, Shelly Dorman of Rayville; brother, Phillip Gorden Dorman.
Survivors include his Mother, Evelyn Killen Dorman of Rayville; wife, Treba Irby Dorman of Delhi; two sons, Ebon Daniel Dorman of Rayville and Shelly Osco Dorman and wife Jessika of Metairie; two grandsons, Jake Dorman and Wiley Dorman; one brother, Wendel Dorman of Farmerville; three sisters, Sheila Dorman Hawkins and husband Joe of Molina, Fl, Darla Dorman Odom Monroe and husband Bruce of Delhi and Tammy Dorman of Rayville.
Gary was a man of few words...he loved his family and friends...and he loved his electrical work in the oil field, whether on land or in the Gulf. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and those he mentored down through the years.
Arrangements were entrusted to Griffin Funeral Home of West Monroe.
