She married Lt. John Edward Thornhill on December 22nd 1954. The little girl from Crowville, Lousiana began to travel the world as the wife of an Officer in the United States Army.
Those travels included a 4 year tour in Germany and a 2 year tour Addis Abba, Ethiopia along with stops in other places all over the world. She accepted the challenges of being the wife a soldier with grace and strength. Because of the nature of her husband’s work in the military she spent many months raising her 3 boys and running the household on her own. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl and spent much of her adult life involved in churches wherever she may have been. Her Husband LTC. John Edward Thornhill retired from the U.S. Army on October 31st, 1974, and they returned home to Louisiana. She was an active member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. Her Love for her family and for Christ could be seen in how she lived her life. Never a harsh word for anyone always willing to help those in need. Indeed, Heaven has gained the fairest of flowers today. The family would like to thank Lisa and Connie and the entire staff at Stoney Brook Memory Care Center and Annette and staff at Ascend Health for the exceptional care they took of our mother. We could not have asked for more caring compassionate people to help us through this time.
