Obituary for Edna Doylene Arledge

Private family memorial services for Mrs. Edna Doylene Arledge of West Monroe will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe.

Mrs. Arledge was born August 11, 1928 in Grayson, LA and passed from this life on May 12, 2021 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 92. She was a very talented person who enjoyed fishing, gardening and teaching others about gardening, and playing poker from time to time. She owned her own bakery named “Sweet Cakes” in Monroe and was an artist when it came to baking and decorating cakes. Mrs. Edna enjoyed cooking and was an avid seamstress and made beautiful clothing for her family and the general public through the years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Julius Arledge; her parents, Joseph Doyle McHenry, Sr. and Mary Edna Butler McHenry; and one brother, Joseph Doyle “J.D.” McHenry, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Miles Arledge and Judith Poindexter, both of Monroe, Mark Arledge and Matt Arledge, both of West Monroe, and Julie Cavazos of Spring Branch, TX; nine grandchildren, Mike, Jenna, Courtney, Melissa, Beth, Christian, Amanda, Lauren and Camille; ten great-grandchildren, Juliet, Will, Morgan, Rachel, Madison, Lindsey, Cole, Sydney, Ella and Ava; and four great great-grandchildren, Mason, Cliff, Max and Charlie; also survived by her beloved cats, and a host of extended family and friends.
