It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Wayne Goodwin, (“Reddog” to those who knew him), announce his unexpected passing on July 13, 2020.
Donald was 53 years old. Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife Amanda Nicole Goodwin of thirteen years. Donald was predeceased by his parents Rowe Perry Goodwin, Barbara Goodwin Hicks, and Joan Marie Williams.
Donald is survived by his best friend and wife, Amanda Nicole Goodwin of West Monroe, LA; his father-in-law, Ray Williams, of West Monroe, LA.
Donald is survived by his siblings who will miss his presence and love. He is survived by 3 sisters, Sharon Williams, Pamela Billiot, and Pattyann Harber-Goodwin. Donald has six brothers who will continue to celebrate Donald’s life; Danny Goodwin, Dwaine Goodwin, Rodney Goodwin, Perry Goodwin, Phillip Hicks, and Robert Hicks.
In life, Donald was a loyal and loving husband to Amanda. Although they never shared children, Donald had a special calling and love for animals, especially animals that he called his pound puppies.
Donald worked and volunteered at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter, in his hometown of Monroe.
He spent his last days caring for an animal that he was trying to save and find a home for.
His soft spot for unique people made him a very loyal and dedicated friend. He never met a stranger, and would never judge people for their differences. He embraced life with realistic vision, and his own style.
His brothers looked to Donald for his courage, as he stood up for what he thought was right and his cousins will always remember his pranks to make you laugh. Donald was a lover of the sea, enjoyed working on boats, fishing as often as he could, then cooking his catch for everyone. He enjoyed listening to “November Rain”.
We will miss Donald’s caring, giving heart. May God comfort him for eternity.
In lieu of flowers, please adopt your next pet at your local shelter or donate to your local shelter in Donald’s name.
