Funeral services for Mr. Donald Bain Averett, Sr. of Monroe, LA will be 4:00pm Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home 911 Warren Dr. West Monroe with Bro. Danny Trichel officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Averett was born January 18, 1937 in Richland Parish, LA and passed from this life on March 23, 2019 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 82. Donald was a kind and generous man who would help anyone in need. He was known to take in children and raise them as his own over the years. He could fix cars of any kind even when most people didn’t think it could be fixed. He was a faithful member to the Road Barron Motorcycle Club for many years. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who met him. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Conroy; and two sisters, Jeanette Collins Vaughn and Geraldine Collins Fox.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geraldine Wilson Averett; one daughter, Debra Warren and husband, Russell of West Monroe; one son, Donald Bain Averette, Jr. of Monroe; one sister, Charlotte Cloud of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Stephen Matthew Norsworthy and Russell Lynn Averette, both of West Monroe; also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
