Obituary for Debra D. Hudson

Debra Dareen Hudson
Shreveport, LA

Debra Dareen Hudson was born September 3, 1953 in Shreveport, LA.

Ms. Hudson loved Jesus and often shared the story of and her love for Jesus with others. She always made herself available to help those in need and often sacrificed to do so. She was sentimental and loved her family. She loved to cook.

She faced an unexpected diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer with strength through faith, looking forward to being in the presence of Jesus. Her mission was to witness to those who did not know Jesus. Scripture representing her call to share Jesus with those placed in her life can be found in Isaiah 61:1-4 NIV “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn … to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair…” She was surrounded by her family in the days leading up to her death. We will all miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Riley Hudson, Sr., and wife Nellie.

Survivors left to cherish her memories include; her two daughters, Heather Keller and husband Oren; Melody B. Jackson and husband Tyler; her son, Joshua Cook; brother, Charles R. Hudson, Jr., and wife Gidget.

Also let to cherish her memories include her six grandchildren, Katelyn Keller, Oren P. Keller II, Kaydence Jackson, Evelyn Jackson, Gabriel Jackson, Serena Singleton; nephew, Charles R. Hudson III, wife Tammy and mother, Cathy Cooley.

A memorial gathering of her family and friends will be held at a later date in an effort to keep our family members safe from risks associated with COVID-19.
