David was born August 3, 1981 and passed from this life May 30, 2021 at the age of 39.
He was one of those rare people who would often show up unannounced, often uninvited and unexpected, to visit his friends and family, and be welcomed with open arms and huge smiles. Always ready with a funny story, David truly never met a stranger.
While he will be missed dearly, the lives of those fortunate enough to call him friend, or brother, husband, son or grandson, are richer and deeper, more filled with laughter and the joy of life for being blessed with his all-too-short time with them.
Despite a life with more trials and tribulations than most, David’s spirit overflowed with laughter and a zest for life’s adventures, and a deep appreciation for the power of family and connection. He was a firm believer that a trip to the mud for a little down and dirty was the beating heart at the center of a life well lived.
For his loved ones, David was the group’s storyteller, the one who remembered and told the stories that keep circles of family and friends connected to their pasts and filled with hope for the future. For David, there was no excuse too small for a celebration, and no celebration too big to turn away a new friend.
He often believed that he needed to work harder to make up for lost time, but to those fortunate enough to be loved by him, David’s greatest gift was his ability to make anyone feel welcome, loved, and accepted. David focused on his desire for never-ending improvement in his work, and perhaps never really knew how highly he was held in the regard of his co-workers.
David’s truest legacy, however, does not lie with his success as an expert craftsman, nor even with his history of defending those he loved against all comers, rather, his spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those who continue his work to value and protect what truly matters in life—the precious and irreplaceable connections between families and friends. Those who remember that there is always a good reason to celebrate this life, to discover a new adventure, and to bring along a few Coors Lights and a couple dozen of your closest friends. While David will be deeply missed, his presence will always be felt where two or more of his loved ones are gathered, and his life serve as a reminder to us all to stand up and protect what truly matters in this world—one another.
