Obituary for David Leon Griffin

Funeral services for Mr. David L. “Griff” Griffin of West Monroe, LA will be held 12:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2022, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. Interment will follow at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time-of-service Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin was born December 9, 1945, in Paris, IL and passed from this life on September 19, 2022, in Monroe, LA at the age of 76. He was a 1964 graduate of Paris High School in Paris, IL. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and taking care of his yard which, he kept meticulously mowed. He dearly loved spending time with his family and playing cards with them. His grandchildren were his world and he loved to make them feel special. David was a member of Masonic Lodge #268 in Paris, IL where he obtained his 32nd degree. One of his greatest accomplishments in life was teaching his son how to be a good father. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony David Griffin; his parents, Leon and Dorothy Griffin; and nephews, Austin and Chris Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sandra Burgett Griffin of West Monroe; his son, Cory Griffin and wife Kelly of West Monroe; his grandchildren: Morgan, Aubrey “Griff”, and Harper T. Griffin, all of West Monroe; his siblings: Larry Griffin and wife Connie of Rosedale, IN, Karen Jewell and husband Charlie of Paris, IL, and Darin Griffin and wife Judy of Paris, IL; one brother-in-law James Burgett and his wife Paulette of Kansas, IL; several beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
