Obituary for Dannie Ray Sims
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Dannie Ray Sims of West Monroe, LA will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe with Woods Watson officiating.
Interment will follow at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 1pm until time of service at the funeral home.
Dannie was born March 21, 1946 and passed from this life on October 3, 2019 at the age of 73.
Dannie delivered milk for 27 years and also drove dump truck for another 15 years. He enjoyed watching birds and deer in the yard, he especially enjoyed relaxing and watching his favorite John Wayne shows.
Dannie is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hall Sims and Letha Viola Boyd Sims; brothers, Winford Sims, Ottis Otha “Bo” Sims, Jody “Spears” Sims, and Charles Glen “Red” Sims and wife Yvonne Alexander Sims.
Those left to cherish his memory include his girlfriend Candy Allen of West Monroe; step-daughter, Kristi Fife and husband Matt of Sterlington; brother, Waymon Hall Sims and wife Dorothy; Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Special thanks to Louisiana Hospice, St. Joseph Nursing Home, and other home health services.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Jones, Brent Killins, Brandon Killins, Skylar Killins, Matt Fife, and Clay Barnhill.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Jones and Dee Killins.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
