Obituary for Craig Thomas Gabb

Craig Thomas Gabb was called Home on June 15, 2020, while holding the hand of his devoted daughter who was his constant companion, confidant, and caregiver these last few months.

Craig fought a valiant three-year battle with COPD and Lung Cancer but God finally said “enough”.
Craig was born on April 9, 1956, in New Orleans.

He was a Brother Martin Crusader and loved racing his 1972 Trans Am on Wisner Boulevard with the love of his life, Jillanda Hand, riding shotgun.

In the late 70’s Craig was one of the youngest Regional Managers Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken ever had and this career brought him to West Monroe where he loved raising his family. He started SpaceCo in the 80’s, long before “bounce houses” became the rage. Ever the entrepreneur, Craig helped revitalize the historic Oauchita riverfront by opening the wildly popular Gabbeaux’s Bayle’s Landing restaurant whose “secret recipe” (sorry, he took it with him…) boiled crawfish drew mobs every Spring.

For the last few years Craig was able to enjoy retirement by spending time with his six grandchildren, being a cheerleader on the sidelines, a chauffeur for dance recitals, and always a practical joker. He especially enjoyed passing down secrets about fishing and hunting with his grandson, whom he was so proud to see become PFC Jett Gabb in the U.S. Army National Guard.

If you ever met Craig, you would remember him. He was always outgoing and made you laugh.
He will be sadly missed by many, especially his daughter, Sommer Gabb Dispenza (Josh) and her children, Jett, Jill-Leigh, Joshua Jr., and Josie; his son, Jade Gabb (Ginny) and his children, Milleigh and Owen; his mother, Jacqueline Albe; his sister, Ronda Gabb (Gina); his former wife, Jillanda Hand Piercy; and his aunt and Nan, Linda Gabb. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore J. Gabb Jr. Services will be Private. In memory of Craig…take your kids fishing.
