My husband and Pete were best friends. Not a day went by that they didn't talk on the phone. I went to high school with him. He was a year ahead of me but I knew him to be a kind guy. He was one of the sweetest men we have ever know. Our grand kids called him Mr. Pete and they loved him. "He would do anything for anyone who asked. We thought he would be a permanent fixture in our lives. We are going to miss him dearly.

When we were in high school, Pete worked evenings at Burger Chef on South 2nd and I worked evenings at Eastgate Safeway on Louisville. I would get off work at 10 pm and then go pick up Pete when his shift ended at 11 at Burger Chef. He didn't have a car have a car at that time. We would ride around the south side of Monroe in my old 69 Torino til the wee hours of the morning, smoking and drinking beer when we could get it. Pete smoked Kools and I thought, "That looks cool" so I picked up the habit. Pete was a manager on the football team with me, Elbert C, Larry B, and Ernest M. We were all in a youth organization sponsored by the LA National Guard at one time. I was his best man at his wedding in 1973 or 74. Pete was a great guy.
