Obituary

Chris Cruse was born on June 26, 1951, and passed away suddenly on June 6, 2021, three weeks shy of his 70th birthday.
Chris was a native of Winnsboro and had lived in Monroe for the past 2 years. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School, Northeast Louisiana University on a track scholarship and the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He had a long successful career in real estate and insurance, continuing the family tradition started by his Great Grandfather. For the past 41 years he has been owner of Chris Cruse and Associates.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of nearly 26 years Mollie and his children Marguerite and Will of Monroe, and aunt and uncle, Barbara and Larry Taylor of Newnan, Georgia. Chris is also survived by numerous cousins, and life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher, parents James and Jaime Cruse, and sister Deidre Cruse.
Chris was a remarkable husband, father, son, friend and business associate to so many who simply adored and respected him. He will be remembered for his soft-spoken and kind manner. His positivity and sincere attentive encouragement to others was a gift he possessed. You always felt better after visiting with Chris.
Chris credited any successes he enjoyed to others. He once wrote “Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have been involved in a lot of real estate transactions. In the process, I’ve met and worked with a lot of good people without whom success would not have been possible. Thanks to all who have remembered me after all these years.” There are countless examples of times that Chris quietly helped those in need without expecting recognition or compensation.
His family meant everything to him and his children were certainly the light of his life. He was constantly teaching his children something, be it a skill or life lesson, by both instruction and by example. Chris spent his time away from work with family activities, tennis, running, self-education, and of late, enjoying the tranquility of the bayou where he lived.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 3 pm, at 5400 Bon Aire Drive in Monroe.
