Bonnie B. Ragsdale, aged 77, passed peacefully on May 5, 2021 in West Monroe, LA. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Sylvia Alice, and Franklin Briggs, and brother Douglas Briggs.

Bonnie was blessed with a full life. She was a devoted mother, animal activist, and a proudly independent woman. She had one son, “Danny”, who was the most important part of her world. In 1992, she was diagnosed with, and beat, breast cancer. She retired from Texas Tech University, where she helped grow her department, and received numerous achievement awards for her excellence. One of Bonnie’s biggest passions was animal rescue. She was closely connected with multiple rescue organizations with whom she helped trap, give medical treatment to, and take in feral cats. Bonnie was also a published writer whose poetry can be found between the pages of a few good books. Bonnie was also an amateur photographer. She was never afraid to learn something new and didn’t let the modern age hold her back. She was a brilliant woman with a very open mind. She is loved greatly and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her son, Daniel Ragsdale, and wife Maranda; her siblings, Sylvia Parton, and husband, Ben, Penny Hobby, Beverly Braswell, Kaye Newton and husband John, Phillip Briggs and wife Rosa; Grandchildren, Cody Ragsdale, Sierra Reboul and husband Adam, Tiffany Vivaldi, and husband Chris; and many nephews and nieces.
