Obituary for Bill Vaughn

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Bill Vaughn received his miracle and walked on streets of gold. His Home-going Celebration will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2022, at Souls Harbor United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Julien Ryder officiating, and special remarks by Rev. Jimmy Masters, Rev. Cade Posey, and Rev. Gary Wynn.
Family will receive friends for visitation 5:00 pm until time of service, at the church.
Bill was born December 8, 1969, to Albert Vaughn and Annette McGarity.

His greatest accomplishment in life was his walk with God and overcoming many obstacles meant to destroy him. He made no secret of his struggle with addiction and used those struggles to reach others. Bill’s passion for Harbor House and Celebrate Recovery was contagious.

He enjoyed fishing and would often stop at a random lake or pond. Sometimes, he wasn’t sure whether it was private or not! His pole and tackle box happily lived in the backseat of his truck. Those two things could never be forgotten when he, Missi, and Theodore went on their many camping trips. He loved slinging his grand babies off the tube when flying across the lake! His laughter was infectious.

Bill’s Thunder Chicken deer jerky making skills are now a memory, and although he can no longer be everyone’s supplier, his wife does know his secret recipe!

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Vaughn, and both sets of his grandparents.

Those left to enjoy Bill’s legacy include his wife, Missi Vaughn; Children: Stephanie Thomas(Lee), Allie Futch, Justin DeRamus (Jessica), and Ed DeRamus; Grandchildren: Brooklyn, Paisleigh, Zane, Kyrie, Gracelynn, Ava, Remington, Blayne, and Nate; Mother, Annette McGarity; brother, William Vaughn (Lisa); sister, Christy Hattenhauer; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Dueitt; brothers-in-law, Randy (Nickie), Jerod (Chyvonne), Chance (Danielle), and Nick (Rebecca), and sister-in-law Nannette (Julien). He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

Pall Bearers include: Justin DeRamus, Luke Powell, Seth Powell, Luis Zuniga, David Grundstrom, and Dustin Green.

Honorary Pall Bearers include: Randy Angelle, Jerod Angelle, Chance Angelle, Blayne Dunn, Gerald Sepulvado, and Phillip Peterson.

In Bill’s words, “The devil didn’t get me.”
