Obituary for Betty Jo Aaron McMellon

Graveside services for Betty Jo Aaron McMellon will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 8, 2022, at St. Paschal Catholic Cemetery with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, October 7, 2022, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Betty McMellon was born on November 20, 1938, in Rayville, LA and passed from this life on September 22, 2022, at the age of 83 in the Sky Ridge Medical Center of Long Tree, CO. She lived in Oak Grove, LA and West Monroe, LA until 2019 when she moved to Colorado. Many knew her as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty loved travelling and tending her vegetable garden. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, doing needlepoint, and spending time with her family when she had the opportunity.

Betty is preceded in death by husband Loy McMellon; stepdaughter, Mary McMellon; stepson, Lloyd McMellon; parents, Wesley D. Aaron and Lottie Estelle Aaron; five sisters, Vanner Posey, Ruth Scoggins, Pauline Slaughter, Nobie Horton and Rachel Thompson.
She is survived by her son Guy McMellon and his wife Jessica Renee McMellon of Ruston, LA; daughter, Marian Shattuck and husband James Brett Shattuck of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Linda Boudreaux and husband Bruce Edwin Boudreaux of Dallas, TX; daughter, Donna Vrontas and husband George Edward Vrontas of Centennial, CO; stepdaughter, Evelyn Adams and her husband Robert Adams; stepson, Johnny McMellon of Louisiana; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Annie Mae Milton of Columbia, LA , along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
