Betty was born March 14, 1935 and passed from this life May 7, 2022 at the age of 87.
“Wonderfully delightful woman, special lady, amazing Godly Christian, sweet special person,
legacy of love, kind, loving generous, did for others" these words have been used to
describe Mrs. Betty Ruth Moore Glenn, who was called home to our Lord on Saturday, May
7, 2022, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Betty was born March 14,1935 to Bert and Alma Moore. She was a unique, genuinely caring person with a delightful sense of humor and an easy smile who brightened the lives of everyone she met.
Betty married Floyd Glenn in 1953 and made a happy home for 69 years and 4 months.
Some of Betty’s happiest days were working alongside Floyd for nine years in their upholstery
business. Together they raised five loving children. Betty would always be there to pray for you, lend a listening ear, offer advice or just give you a hug. Betty has been referred to as “the greatest mother-in-law ever” because of her love for her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law and she was dedicated to her family in all aspects of their lives.
Betty loved all her grandchildren immensely. She treated each one like they were the most important person in the world. She was a very attentive listener who listened carefully to every word they said and she was always on their side even if they were wrong.
For 69 years, Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church of Swartz, LA where she taught
Sunday School to all ages from nursery to senior adults. She worked many years with Awana helping young children learn about Jesus. In her later years, she loved teaching and fellowshipping with the ladies in her senior adult Sunday School class. Betty traveled on many mission trips to Mexico, Belize, Alaska, Honduras, and many places in the United States where the Lord called her to share God’s word with others. She made thousands of eye glass cases for missions, Betty worked with the Red Cross locally and nationally assisting in recovery efforts and ministering to people's needs.
Betty loved to vacation with her family. If someone was planning a trip, she
would try to figure out how to “hide in their suitcase” so she could go too. She was an
expert seamstress who would sew Easter dresses, costumes, play clothes and special occasion outfits for her children. She loved sewing for others and even created heirlooms for her daughters and granddaughters by personally making their wedding veils.
Betty is preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Glenn; parents Bert and Alma Moore; sister,
Joann McClure; brothers, John Moore and Bert (B.R.) Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Floyd Glenn; daughters, Patricia
Hogan (husband Donald); Sandra Norsworthy (husband Lonny); Linda Newton (husband
David); son, Cecil Glenn (wife Tammie); 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 7
great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family of Mrs. Betty would like to thank Dr. Albert and Dawn Kerr and his office for the
many years of love and devotion they have shown to Betty as her family friend and her
