Funeral services for Mrs. Alvern R. Snowden of West Monroe will be 10:00am Monday, February 25, 2019 at Christ Church in West Monroe with Tom Lowe and Jeremy Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Grove Church of God Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Griffin Funeral Home 911 Warren Dr. West Monroe.
Mrs. Snowden was born May 15, 1927 and passed from this life on February 22, 2019 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 91. She was a member of Liberty Grove Church of God for many years, she attended Christ Church, she was a bookkeeper and worked as a welder during WWII. She loved sewing, cooking, recipes, puzzles, canning, and vegetable gardening. She also loved to travel. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt and a friend to all who met her. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace E. Snowden; her parents, Burrell and Rosie Ricks; one brother, James David Ricks; and two sisters, Vernell Knighten and Glendale Wilson.
Survivors include her two sons, Don Snowden and Troy Snowden both of West Monroe; one sister, Bonnie May of West Monroe; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
